Inclusive Workforce Innovation

Employment designed around capability, not convention.

The Living Well Inclusive Workforce Model is a flexible and accessible approach to employment that accommodates different working patterns while maintaining professional standards and service continuity.

The model

Combining different ways of working

Many capable people are excluded from work that assumes everyone can work conventional full-time hours. The model explores the potential to combine:

01

Permanent full-time employment

Stable, full-time roles for people who want them.

02

Permanent part-time employment

Secure roles with fewer hours, without losing professional standing.

03

Flexible staff banks

Trained staff who choose when they are available to take on work.

04

Remote and hybrid working

Work arranged around location as well as hours, where the service allows.

05

Individual working preferences

Patterns that reflect health, caring and other commitments.

06

Supported training and progression

Development routes open to everyone, whatever their working pattern.

In development

An approach we are developing and will evaluate in practice

The Living Well Inclusive Workforce Model is an innovative workforce approach that Living Well Partners is developing. We intend to evaluate it through practical implementation, so that its benefits for employees, organisations and service users are tested rather than assumed.

The model is informed by our wider work on capability and workplace fit, including The Right Work for You. Operational details are shared with partners as part of an agreed implementation.
